“I’ve been waiting all my life for right now. I’m exactly where I want to be. Writing and producing music. A time when I’m bold and uncompromising. Determined and wound tight with energy. Like poet Jack Gilbert said: 'What I’m interested in is writing about things that people who’ve gotten beyond the beginning. They’ve tried to be married and failed. And they are trying to decide again. Or they’ve tried twice and failed. And they find themselves in love. Or people find out they’ve come into middle age alive. You’re on fire. Your heart is still bright. What do you do with that? What pertains to them. Where do they turn. They can’t turn to Romeo and Juliet in that ecstasy of innocence. What do you do with them?’”
